Silla University Welcomes Delegation of the Korean Education Center in Tashkent

 

On November 10th, 2016, a delegation of the Korean Education Center in Tashkent led by Director Mr. Kim Beom Su, Head of Planning Division Ms. Ten Tatiana and 6 high school students has visited Silla University.

 

The students, who are currently attending high school in Tashkent, are hoping to continue their education in Korea in September 2017 after graduation from home schools. During their recent visit to Korea, they had a chance to visit and experience such Korean Universities as Kyung Hee and Chung-Ang University in Seoul and Pukyong and Silla University in Busan.

 

During the students` visit to Silla University, they could participate in the following activities:

 

  1. 1. Introduction to the International Tourism Department of SU; Q&A Session with Undergraduate student from Uzbekistan

  1. 2. Introduction to Visual Design Faculty and master class on 3D pen printing
  2. 3. Introduction to the Department of Dental Hygiene and practical master-class

 

Due to the influence of Korean Wave and as a result of KOREA-DREAM, there are many students in Uzbekistan who learn Korean language through regular courses at the elementary, middle and high school. This number has reached 8,300 students, which is the highest among CIS countries.

 

Korean Education Center in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, has been established in 1992 and is currently the largest of the overseas Korean Language Centers. It has over 3,500 students, operates about 42 classrooms and supports over 2,000 students who go to study in Korea on annual basis.

 

Silla University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Educational Cooperation with Korean Education Center in Tashkent, aiming to promote friendship between the two countries, development of both institutions through cooperation in Korean language education and with an aim to attract outstanding students from Uzbekistan to Silla University.
